At Cheltenham Hip Clinic, we specialise in treating a wide range of hip and knee complaints.

You’ll be treated by expert orthopaedic surgeon Mr Jon Mutimer, using the most up-to-date equipment and techniques. With over 15 years’ experience he is supported by a trusted multidisciplinary team.

As well as holding NHS clinics in Cheltenham, Evesham and Cirencester, Mr Mutimer also undertakes private clinics at The Nuffield Hospital, Cheltenham and the Cobalt Clinic at Linton House .

Mr Mutimer will take the time to discuss your condition fully and to listen to your concerns, to ensure you get the care that’s right for you. He’ll also explain the treatment in terms you’ll understand and he will be on hand to answer any questions or concerns that you have. We offer the flexibility to choose an appointment at a time that suits you, making it easier to fit treatment into your busy lifestyle and to get help quickly.

About the Team

Mr Mutimer

Consultant and Orthopaedic Surgeon

Mr Mutimer will be the consultant that treats you at Cheltenham Hip Clinic. He provides a friendly, thorough service, taking the time to explain all aspects of your treatment and to address your concerns and questions. 

Mr Mutimer is an orthopaedic surgeon with a wealth of experience. He is supported by a talented multidisciplinary team of nurses, physiotherapists and theatre staff, at Nuffield Health and Linton House, as well as by his experienced and knowledgeable personal secretary.

Mr Mutimer completed his undergraduate and postgraduate training at the University of Bristol Medical School, graduating in 1997. Since then, has continuously worked in hospitals in the South West and beyond, specialising in knee and hip surgery.

In 2008, he undertook a fellowship in lower limb arthroplasty in Wellington, New Zealand, where he visited leading surgeons and learned a number of new techniques and strategies.

Since 2009, Mr Mutimer has been a consultant trauma and orthopaedic surgeon at Cheltenham General Hospital, specialising in knee and hip conditions. He has been the Clinical Director for 4 years including during the pandemic.

His private practice is at Nuffield Health Cheltenham Hospital and Linton House.

Mr Mutimer is also passionate about teaching and mentoring junior orthopaedic surgeons and he publishes regular research, focused on improving hip and knee treatment for patients. He has been the Training Programme Director for the regions junior orthopaedic trainees and maintains an interest in their training
